Artificial intelligence in teaching establishments in Sudan: between the challenge and the opportunity – a free pen – ✍️ d. Mutawakkil Ahmed Hamad Al -Nile

Artificial intelligence appeared as an official scientific field in the middle of the century, in particular in 1956, during the famous Dartmouth conference, which is the time for the official start of artificial intelligence as independent science.
In other words, most countries of the world have benefited from this modern technology in its education systems, Sudan stands in front of a crossroads between hope and the challenge, while the opportunities offered by this revolutionary technology increase, the challenges existing in infrastructure, political stability and human resources remain a block of stumbling blocks in front of an effective and wide application.
Some Sudanese universities have experienced initial attempts to use artificial intelligence in the educational process. For Example, A Study at Al -Zaeem Al -Azhari University Showed that of Artificial Intelligence Tools Contributed to Improving the Quality of Educational Services from the Teaching Staff’s Point of View, and Sudanese Initiatives Also Participated in Cooperation With International Organizations Such as Giga and the Omdeen Using Artificial Intelligence to Draw Accident Maps of Schools Using Satellite Images, Which is a step it is extremely important in a country that suffers from weak geographic databases, while in the faculties of medicine, recent studies have revealed increased awareness among students with artificial intelligence techniques such as chatgpt, reason for internet weakness and sources.
Artificial intelligence can make a qualitative change in Sudanese education if its use is improved. Among the most important opportunities: allocate education through systems capable of adapting content according to the level of students and analyzing students’ data to determine weaknesses and forces.
Artificial intelligence also contributes to supporting education in the fields affected by conflicts or poverty, and has therefore contributed to the process of distance education.
Despite these promising perspectives, Sudan faces structural challenges that prevent artificial intelligence from easily integrated into educational institutions, in particular a low digital infrastructure and repeated electricity and interruptions, in particular in rural areas,
The absence of organized legislation: there are no clear policies that govern the use of artificial intelligence in education, which raises concerns related to privacy and improper use. Likewise, the lack of qualified managers, most teachers did not receive sufficient training to treat the tools of artificial intelligence or modern education technology, political and security conditions: conflicts that have broken out since April 2023 have affected hundreds of schools and moved thousands of students, which led to the disruption of the entire educational process.
It is important to continue success. Artificial intelligence must be integrated into the Sudanese education system which requires a complete national vision, which begins by providing an appropriate infrastructure, developing human frameworks and establishing guaranteed legislation for moral and safe use of this technology.
Consequently, many international educational establishments recommend the need to develop a national artificial intelligence strategy in education, include training programs, improve digital access and support local initiatives in partnership with the private sector and international institutions.
One last word …
Artificial intelligence is not a luxury or technological luxury, but rather a necessity to follow the pace of the transformations of the time, and for Sudan, this field can be a golden opportunity to reconstruct education from the start and provide a fairer, efficient and flexible educational experience. However, the conversion of this vision in reality requires courageous decisions and intelligent investments, which greatly contribute to the success and superiority of students and students.
