Binding the fields of production to national methods: the arteries of the development of a prosperous Sudan – something for the fatherland – ✍️ Mr. Salah Gharib

I have lived and worked for many years in the heart of the agricultural regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially in Al -Qassim and Hail. There, I was a daily witness on the paved agricultural network which is smoothly connected to the main and national roads. The scene of huge trucks carrying agricultural cultures always reminded me of the importance of infrastructure to advance economic development. This scene echoes now and I am the decision of Sudanese Prime Minister D. Kamel Idris, by connecting production areas to national methods to facilitate the trade movement in all the states of Sudan. This is a decision that promises a promising future for Sudan and has lessons that are learned from other countries that have achieved the importance of this vital link early.

The decision of the Sudanese Prime Minister represents a real turning point in the country’s development process. The road is not only trails to cross vehicles. Rather, they are economic arteries that pump life in the regions, facilitate the commercial movement, reduce transport costs and improve the ability of producers to reach local and international markets. In Sudan, where agricultural and industrial production areas vary, and where the tourist product has enormous potential, connecting these areas to a sophisticated national road network becomes an essential necessity to achieve sustainable and complete development.

Imagine the deep impact of this decision on the different sectors. For the agricultural sector, which is the backbone of the Sudanese economy, this link will allow farmers to transfer their fresh crops to the market in record time and with the least waste. This means better prices for farmers, greater availability of food products in cities and to reduce losses resulting from damage caused by crops. As a living exedite, I saw in Saudi Arabia how paved roads contribute to the arrival of agricultural products Qassim and hail with the main Riyadh and Jeddah markets in a few hours, which maintains their quality and improves their competitiveness and their export.

At the industrial level, the ease of transport of raw materials to factories and end products on the market will help reduce operational costs and increase the competitiveness of Sudanese products. This will also be encouraged to attract more investments in the industrial sector, to the spread of our factories in the different states of Sudan, to create new employment opportunities and to achieve additional value to the national economy. The investor is always looking for the infrastructure that allows him to manage his business effectively and effectively.

The positive impact is not only limited to agriculture and industry, but also extends to the tourist product. Sudan abounds in picturesque archaeological and natural sites, which are optimal tourist treasures. The connection of these sites to a sophisticated road network will facilitate access to tourists, will improve the experience of visitors and is encouraged to invest in tourist infrastructures such as hotels and stations. This, in turn, will help diversify the sources of national income and create employment opportunities in the tourism sector and its related services.

But the implementation of this ambitious decision requires great effort and careful planning. The authorities concerned must work to put clear mechanisms for implementation, provide the necessary funding and ensure the quality of construction and road maintenance. It must also be taken into account in transparency and responsibility, to guarantee the maximum of advantages of these vital projects. Perhaps taking advantage of international experiences in this area, as I saw in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, can be accelerated by the pace of completion and improves the quality of implementation.

The connection of production areas to national means is not only a project to define roads, but rather an investment in the future of Sudan. It improves economic integration between states, reduces the development gap between urban and rural areas and allows citizens to more easily access the basic services. This is a daring step towards the realization of the self-deputation, the promotion of exports and the more merger of Sudan in the world economy.

I look forward to seeing this vision in the field in Sudan. The cobbled roads are the key to prosperity, and the construction of these economic arteries will open new horizons for development and help build a prosperous Sudan and a better future for all its children. Are we ready to choose the fruits of this historic decision?
