Consumer Investigations dismantles criminal network specializing in commercial fraud

Through surveillance and monitoring, the Consumer Protection Investigation Department was able to seize a criminal network working in the trafficking of expired food products. The details of the seizure date back to the seizure of a truck carrying a consignment to Gedaref State. Upon examination, I found 24 cartons of sauce with expired conditions and 24 cartons of a large container, also expired. Expiration: I also found 6 expired Indomie cartons.

The owner of the tow truck was taken to the administration offices and during the investigation he identified the second accused, who is the owner of the goods.

A consumer protection investigation team was formed, headed by an officer, and special parliamentary orders were issued, and the store located in Dar Al Salam area, Umm Defso market, was raided, where the following items were seized:

1/ 450 bags of flour, weighing 25 kilograms, Al-Bashir Abi brand

2/ 350 cartons of sauce, capacity of 4 boxes, containing 24 sachets of 50 grams

3/4 oil pots, capacity 36 pounds, Al Rawda brand

4/ 124 cartons of barley, capacity of 12 cans, weighing 250 grams.

5/ 30 bags of Simul pasta

6/ 11 bags of rice of 20 kilos from Prime Market

7/ 15 bags of rice weighing 20 kilograms, Al-Saqr brand

8/ 13 sachets of Rival brand apple juice, containing 24 bottles of 150 ml.

9/ 6 boxes of chocolate, capacity 12 boxes

10/6 packets of crème caramel

11/ 3 sachets of salt

12/ 3 cartons of canned seeds

All of these seizures have expired.

A report was opened against the accused under Articles 21/82 Penal, read in conjunction with Article 31 of the specifications.

This network distributes these expired materials in popular markets within the state and in shelters, regardless of the needs and circumstances of the targeted people.

It also distributes it to states for the same purpose and regardless of the pressing needs of the consumer.

The General Administration of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection will remain the safety valve of the consumer through its departments that work diligently and selflessly in the face of these exceptional circumstances that the country is going through.

Major General Ihab Hassan Saleh, Director of the Department, affirmed the continuation of field work and the abandonment of all fraudulent operations and manipulation of citizens' livelihoods, praising the role of his administration in the battle for dignity with as much effort and position as a fortified fortress to protect the consumer and the national economy.
