Council of Ministers discusses peace initiative, welcomes efforts to prepare for return to Khartoum

Today’s cabinet meeting discussed the Sudanese government’s peace initiative presented by Prime Minister Kamel Idris, as well as the modalities of return and transfer to Khartoum State, and the position of the accountability statements presented by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Lamia Abdel Ghaffar Khalafallah.

The Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Ali Muhammad Ali, explained in a press release after the meeting that the Council approved the draft emergency budget of the Federal Government for the financial year 2026, presented by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim.

He pointed out that the meeting commended the efforts of the Supreme Committee to prepare the environment for the return of citizens to Khartoum State, led by a member of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber. He also appreciated the efforts of the Khartoum State Governor and members of his government to prepare the necessary environment for the return of citizens.



The Council of Ministers recorded a vote of thanks and appreciation to the Governor of the Red Sea State, Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour and his government members, for hosting the Federal Government and citizens since April 2023.

The Secretary General confirmed that the meeting commended the efforts of the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Sudan and all partners in the effective management of the Sudanese economy, which contributed to reducing inflation rates and increasing gross domestic product during the year 2025.

He highlighted that the Council agreed to invite the Director of the World Health Organization to visit Sudan, with the aim of consulting and producing results that contribute to the development of the health sector and its effectiveness. He also agreed to invite the Sudanese private sector to take the lead in reconstruction, as part of integrated efforts between the public and private sectors.
