Customs forces at Port Sudan airport foil foreign currency smuggling attempt
Customs forces at Port Sudan International Airport were able to seize 101,500 Saudi riyals from a passenger who tried to hide them in a sensitive place on her body while moving through the departure lounge.
Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Acting Director General of Customs Forces, explained that this seizure confirms the high sense of security enjoyed by customs officers, in addition to modern devices for detecting passengers and their personal belongings.
For his part, the Deputy Director General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, General Babiker Youssef Babiker, confirmed that the customs forces will work during the year 2025 on the implementation of modern programs and plans aimed at further improving the performance and strengthen electronic control.
The Director of the Red Sea General Administration of Customs, Brigadier General Hisham Mohamed Al-Hassan, praised the police forces and the relief force composed of officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers who achieved this feat, calling for more efforts and the highest possible degree of adequate monitoring to be achieved.
Brigadier General Khaled Othman Al-Faki, Director of the Customs Department at Port Sudan Airport, also renewed his focus on simplifying and speeding up passenger procedures, with his commitment to implementing customs procedures compliant with international standards, indicating that airport staff have sufficient experience to detect and control smuggling attempts through vigilance and electronic control devices.
