Dr. Gabriel Ibrahim | Commentary by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning on the Cairo Conference
The Arab Republic of Egypt is first of all grateful for hosting a large number of Sudanese.
Second, thank you for your tireless efforts to find a solution to the Sudanese crisis.
Third, thank you for organizing in Cairo a conference of Sudanese political and “civilian” forces seeking peace.
The guests responded without hesitation to Egypt's invitation because of its great position among them, and they found in the opening speech of His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs something that warmed their hearts.
But the final statement does not take into account the feelings of the people who were subjected to various kinds of torture by the militias, and it does not specify who made people poorer and hungrier by preventing food from reaching them.
So we chose not to participate.
