Egyptian-Kuwaiti statement: The inevitability of achieving an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Sudan and rejecting external interference

A joint statement was issued on the occasion of the visit of the Emir of the State of Kuwait to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The relations between the two countries in particular, which reflect the common interests that bind them, and the It is represented by the State of Kuwait, a key partner of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the investment and trade sector and in various aspects of economic cooperation.

The Kuwaiti side welcomed the unprecedented development renaissance witnessed by Egypt at all levels, noting the country's continued efforts to improve the investment climate, attract investments and overcome obstacles faced by investors. His Excellency the President also expressed his appreciation for the attention given to the Egyptian community. in Kuwait, and both sides affirmed their intention to strengthen their trade and investment relations in the coming period, in a manner that meets their common interests, while instructing officials from both countries to take the necessary steps to achieve this and preparing to maintain their relationships. the thirteenth session of the Supreme Joint Committee in the coming months, which will help advance efforts to strengthen joint cooperation.

Both sides appreciated the mutual support between the two countries in various international forums, which represents an important pillar for the promotion of common interests, the latest being the support of the State of Kuwait for the appointment of Dr. Khaled Al- Anani for the post of Director-General of UNESCO, as well as Egypt's support for Kuwait's candidacy for membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council for the period 2024-2026.

They also welcomed the close coordination on regional and international issues of common concern and stressed the need to prioritize the culture of peace, dialogue and diplomatic resolution of disputes and differences in the Middle East region. East, in order to achieve development and peace. coexistence between its countries, in a manner consistent with the values ​​of tolerance, respect for the sovereignty of States over their territories and non-interference in its internal affairs.

The President of the Egyptian Republic and his brother, the Emir of Kuwait, agreed on the need to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the need to facilitate safe, adequate access and sustainable humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in the occupied territory and implement the relevant Security Council resolutions, the latest of which is Resolution No. 2720, including the establishment of an international mechanism in the Strip of Gaza to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the strip. They also affirmed their rejection of Israel's continuation of its military operations, including the possibility of its extension to the Palestinian city of Rafah, and warned of the disastrous humanitarian consequences that would result from such a measure. They also highlighted the danger of Israeli practices that could expand the conflict and threaten the security and stability of the region as well as international security and peace.

They also stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities in resolving the Palestinian question by implementing the two-state solution and embodying the Palestinian state on the model of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as capital, in accordance with relevant international decisions. They expressed their categorical rejection and condemnation of all attempts to liquidate the Palestinian question and of Israel's violations of international humanitarian law and all attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands in Gaza and the West Bank, including including East Jerusalem. In this context, they also underlined respect for the right of return of Palestinian refugees and General Assembly Resolution No. 194, and stressed the importance of the vital role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency United Nations Refugee Agency (UNRWA), rejecting the deliberate targeting of Palestinian refugees. of the agency and the importance of supporting its budget.

Both sides stressed the need to respect the sovereignty of the Libyan State as well as the unity and integrity of its lands, rejecting any form of external interference in its affairs, and the importance of supporting national efforts Libyans within the framework of the principle of exclusivity. They welcomed the efforts of the Libyan legislature in this regard and its approval of the electoral laws within the framework of respecting all the necessary conditions for the simultaneous holding of presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible. in a manner consistent with the political agreement signed in the city of Skhirat in 2015, the Libyan Constitutional Declaration and its amendments, as well as the terms of reference for the settlement of the Libyan crisis, including the relevant resolutions of the Security Council.

The two leaders also stressed the need for all foreign forces, foreign fighters and mercenaries to leave Libya within a specific time frame, disband militias and unite military and security institutions under a unified executive power, capable of leading the rest of the Libyan territories and representing the masses of the Libyan people.

Both sides stressed that it was inevitable to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Sudan and rejected external interventions aimed at militarily supporting either side. They also stressed that any real political solution must be based on a purely Sudanese vision emanating from the Sudanese themselves. diktats or pressures from any external party and make decisions that contribute to resolving the crisis and are based on the unity and sovereignty of Sudan and on the preservation of national state institutions and the prevention of their collapse, in consultation with proposals from effective regional institutions and organizations. , including the Jeddah Platform, the Sudan Neighborhood Mechanism, the African Union and the League of Arab States, in order to safeguard the interests and capabilities of the Sudanese people and the people of neighboring countries as well as security and stability . of the region as a whole. They also stressed the importance of providing support to Sudan's neighboring countries, as they are the most affected by the consequences of the crisis and have hosted a large number of Sudanese since the start of the conflict, including Egypt, alone welcomed more than half a million Sudanese.
