Ethiopian Prime Minister's Visit to Sudan, Connotations and Meanings ✍️ Muhammad Othman Al-Radi
There is no doubt that Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's visit to Sudan tomorrow carries many messages with multiple dimensions at the local, regional and international levels.
The visit comes after Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's statement to members of the Ethiopian Parliament, in which he affirmed his army's ability to restore the lands of Al-Fashqa within hours, but he does not want to take this step because the Sudanese army is engaged in a war against the Rapid Support Militia.
This message was understood by the Ethiopian president as a veiled message of war against Sudan, and those who had objectives promoted this dialogue in a negative way with the aim of driving a wedge between Addis Ababa and Khartoum. So he had to come to Sudan himself to correct the wrong concept.
There are security concerns on the Ethiopian side during the duration of the war in Sudan, which could have negative repercussions on Addis Ababa, which shares a troubled border with Sudan.
Ethiopia suffers from complex internal security problems that it is struggling to resolve because it is not prepared to open up a new front of combat.
The rapprochement between Russia and Sudan has caused confusion in the regional and international political arena, given that Ethiopia is the spoiled child of Washington and Abu Dhabi, and has therefore been forced to exert intense pressure on Khartoum to reverse its decision and break off relations with Russia.
The hosting in Cairo of the Conference of Sudanese Civil Political Forces is part of a preventive measure by Addis Ababa, in light of the hidden competition between them to maintain the Sudanese pressure card with which to negotiate in the institutions of the international community.
There are hidden efforts on the part of Ethiopia to bring Sudan back into Africa, by unfreezing its membership in the African Union and restoring its relations with IGAD, in order to ensure the strong return of both organizations to the international scene.
Sudan has become the center of world attention and all major powers are seeking to gain a foothold there through the multiple initiatives of these countries.
The important and crucial question is: will Sudan seize the opportunity and use all the contradictions to its advantage, or will it want to squander it as it did in the past??? There is no doubt that this opportunity is irreplaceable for Sudan, and it requires extraordinary intelligence in order to achieve astonishing gains.
Some news has spread about the desire of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to visit Sudan, and if this happens, there will be a very big change in the course of the war, and it will certainly be in favor of the Sudanese army.
