The Executive Director of Shendi Locality, Mr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar Al-Sheikh, announced the locality's efforts to open discount outlets and activate cooperative societies to combat the high cost of living. This happened during a meeting with a delegation from the Porsche Multi-Activity Company in the presence of the Director of the General Department of Culture, the economic committee and the representative of the cooperative and social institution. The meeting focused on provision of vital consumer goods and medicines through discount sales centers and cooperative societies to meet rising market prices and combat greed of traders. The executive director said his locality wants to build community partnerships. which provide consumer goods at discounted prices, and Mr. Khaled directed his face in inventorying and registering cooperative societies willing to participate in the project of providing consumables at discounted prices below the market price in order to reduce the burden on on the citizen.
The representative of the Armed Forces Cooperative Corporation spoke about the service projects that the Corporation offers to the consumer and the supply of consumer goods through points of sale at reduced prices, in addition to the city beautification project.
