Confirmed Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, said that the agreements signed by Sudan with China on the sidelines of the participation of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, in the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in Beijing, will yield positive results in the near future.

Jibril explained that the Forces of Freedom and Change – the Central Council – had disrupted Sudanese-Chinese relations inappropriately during their term, but the current government has reactivated these relations through several visits at different levels.

He stressed that the recent diplomatic visits between Sudan and China, which concluded with the participation of the Sudanese delegation led by Al-Burhan in the China-Africa Forum, resulted in the signing of important bilateral agreements in various economic fields, which are expected to bear fruit soon.

Jibril also mentioned that the Sudanese delegation held meetings with major Chinese companies and constructive agreements were reached with these companies. Sudan signed the agreement to join the International Development Initiative launched by Chinese President Xi Jingping, in addition to the agreement with the China Development Cooperation Agency to reopen its office in Port Sudan soon.

Regarding the Chinese debts to Sudan, Jibril revealed that meetings are underway to discuss ways to resolve them through new investments, stressing the Chinese side's understanding of the circumstances the country is going through as a result of the war, noting that CNPC owns the Chinese debt to Sudan and the largest share of these debts.
