Head of the Gum Arabic Exporters Division, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb Anan, revealed a notable decline in the gum arabic sector in recent years, which he described as a dangerous indicator due to the weak services and lack of financial performance. the State is far from supporting producers, in addition to the problems of smuggling and taxes imposed on the sector, confirmed that exports decreased to 60 thousand tons during this year compared to 150 tons the previous year, or approximately 2.671 quintals. of gum, with duties amounting to £219 billion. During a speech at a celebration of support for producers and partners through gum arabic exporting companies in the chambers of commerce, organized by the National Chamber of Exporters and the Gum Arabic Exporters Division of The Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Annan criticized the multiple taxes imposed on gum arabic, which amounted to 23 taxes on transit routes, and said that the taxes imposed on quintals amounted to 82. ” A thousand pounds last year and taxes

To export gum arabic, he confirmed that there are 178 companies that export gum arabic. The head of the division complained of poor services and lack of coordination between the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Sudan and the Ministry of Sudan. Commerce, stressing the need to coordinate with government agencies to review the register of exporting companies and impose an export tax to finance the work of the division, called on the government to support producers by providing services and plants for forests.
And the formation of organizations to fill the work gap, emphasizing that the division aims to support the productive sectors to confirm that the private sector is alongside the government in repairing the productive sectors devastated by the war.
Al-Annan confirmed that the Division supports production associations, research and forestry centers and a number of parties with financial sums to develop the production and cultivation process of gum arabic.
