Health announces 261 new cholera cases in 4 states

In its daily meeting on Thursday afternoon, the Federal Emergency Operations Center reviewed reports on the epidemiological situation of cholera in the country, supervision and visits to isolation centers, environmental health and food control, as well as health promotion and shelter centers.

The report on the epidemiological situation of cholera in the country revealed that (261) new cases were recorded in (4) states: Kassala (152) cases, Nile (78) cases, Gedaref (30) cases, while the North recorded one case. case,

Noting that most of the infections were recorded in the localities of Berber, Al-Damer (River Nile) and Hamashkorib countryside (Kassala), bringing the cumulative number to (4,190) infections, reporting (5) deaths out of the total number of new infections, including one case in Kassala (Talkouk) and Gedaref (bee extraction), and three deaths in the Nile (one in Damer and two in Berber), with a cumulative number of 156 deaths in the affected states.

The report on the visit to isolation centers highlighted the urgent need to establish more centers to cope with the increase in infections, while the report on environmental health and food control highlighted the implementation of activities in the different axes of the states affected by the disease, with a field observation of the conditions in an isolation center in the locality of Kassala, and the health promotion report highlights: A package of interventions to combat the disease through messages in the media, social networks and community dialogues, as well as home visits, at a time when the shelters report confirmed visits to three of these centers, and visits to other centers are scheduled.
