Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety: The Case of Sudanese Patients in Egypt – Something for the Homeland – ✍️ Mr. Salah Ghariba

This year’s celebration of World Patient Safety Day highlights the importance of accurate and early diagnosis to preserve and improve the quality of life of patients. In light of the humanitarian crises the world is facing, such as the Sudanese crisis, this slogan takes on particular significance.

Egypt has experienced a massive influx of Sudanese patients fleeing the ongoing war in their country. These patients, who belong to different age groups and have diverse health needs, require specialized and urgent health care. Delayed diagnosis of their health conditions or misdiagnosis can lead to serious and even fatal consequences.

The Sudanese Medical Mission in Egypt plays a vital role in facilitating access to necessary health care for Sudanese patients. Its goal is to provide a comprehensive database. The attaché collects detailed data on each patient's condition, including medical diagnosis and medical history, which helps doctors provide appropriate care, in addition to coordinating with hospitals and medical centers. The attaché works to conclude agreements with Egyptian hospitals and medical centers. Provide treatment services to Sudanese patients at reduced or free prices, and provide logistical support and medical and cognitive consultations. The attaché also organizes patient awareness campaigns on the importance of medical follow-up and compliance with medical instructions.

Despite the efforts made by the medical attaché, he faces many challenges, including the large number of Sudanese patients in Egypt and the diversity of patients' medical conditions, which require the continuous provision of specialized medical services in various fields.

The media has a major role to play in supporting Sudanese patients and highlighting their suffering. The media can contribute to raising awareness about access to appropriate treatment organizations according to their specialty, the need to follow and carry out appropriate medical examinations, analyzes and X-rays, and not to be misled by specific referral organizations that have nothing to do with medical affairs, from which abnormal cases have emerged in treatment, while raising awareness about the importance of blood and organ donation in specific cases and according to the medical, legal and legal guidelines of the host country, in addition to providing medical assistance to patients. , and striving to mobilize material and moral support for patients by organizing donation campaigns and highlighting any shortcomings or negligence in the provision of medical services to patients.

Improving the medical diagnosis of Sudanese patients in Egypt requires the combined efforts of all parties, including the embassy, the Sudanese medical attaché, health institutions, the media, civil society, and Sudanese clubs and houses in Egypt. By working together, we can ensure that all patients receive the necessary health care and contribute to alleviating their suffering.

We call on all parties concerned to join hands and cooperate in order to provide the best possible health care to Sudanese patients in Egypt and improve their quality of life.
