Inslamist quartet engineering and tactics – the face of truth – ✍️ Ibrahim Shaqlawi

The International Committee of the Quartet, which includes the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, with the anticipation of Qatar and the United Kingdom, is carrying out a political settlement that ends the conflict in Sudan and has opened the way to a new stage. This initiative is based on a political political approach, based on the integration of the paths of Jeddah and Quartet in a unified formula, inspired by Western perceptions, plans to present it to the Security Council for its approval as a binding international reference. On a path that reshaped the Sudanese political scene, in isolation of the Sudanese.

Despite the intentions declared for the realization of peace, this approach raises a great concern among the major sectors of the country, because it is considered as a path that goes beyond the national will and is based on the formulation of a ready solution which stems from the sales and interests of regional and international influence.

These fears are increasing with the escalation of anti-Islamist regional discourse and the emergence of international agendas calling for their exclusion as a pre-won to the political transition. However, this path collided with a more complex reality, because the Islamic currents in Sudan still maintain a large social basis, a follower and tactical skills which have enabled it to maneuver, survive and adapt to the fluctuations of the political scene.

Consequently, it is important to distinguish between the position of Islamists as a political movement and tries to isolate them as a social component which has its deep extensions and rooted in the State and society.

Despite the errors devoted to Islamists during their experience in the government, it cannot be denied that they are always an influential player, not only in terms of management and organization, but also in the battle of dignity to defend the unity of the country, that the Sudanese fought against attempts to dismantle, while they participated effectively – with others – in popular resistance and preserving the national memory.

According to many observers, talking about criticism in the Islamic trend has become an urgent necessity. Attempts have already started to reformulate political discourse and to move from the supporter horizon to a complete national project, based on a real conscience that the time of unilateralism has been kept, and that Sudan can only be governed with real partnership and compatibility.

Consequently, the Islamists are today in front of a joint moment: either they unite their ranks and redefine their role of open civil force capable of developing their experience, or of being pushed into the margin with excuses which have already produced more congestion, polarization and confusion.

The chances of Islamists in Sudan become an acceptable political player at this stage, thanks to their in -depth understanding of complications of the political environment and their possession of tactical flexibility that they have proven in several stations. This possibility is reinforced by the Syrian model, because Ahmed Al -Hara led a remarkable transformation of an armed Islamic movement into a stable political entity, to maintain the understanding of the balanced regional powers, including Saudi Arabia, which recently concluded an unprecedented economic agreement and has contributed to its regional rehabilitation.

If a group with a net environment like this has been able to find a foot in the regional sales, then the Islamists in Sudan, with their political and regulatory cohesion, have more opportunities to provide a different political experience, each time they succeed well to manage their differences, their magazines and their alliances.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey represent at this stage influential regional parties and an ally of Sudan, and have shown a clear opening to the paths which lead to a full political settlement which does not exclude anyone, according to its awareness of the importance of stability in Sudan within the regional security equation.

Consequently, any draft settlement is based on exclusion, not only reflects a political palace, but also threatens to explode the possibilities of stability and reproduce the conflict in more complicated formulas. The departure of the land of the place of war can only be reached on the basis of a real partnership which guarantees mutual recognition and a balance in the equations of strength and influence.

The real bet at the moment should not be to exclude or empower Islamists alone, but rather how to build a stable Sudanese political system, in which everyone takes the ballot boxes, and everyone is equal to the law.

The Islamists, like others, have no eternal mandate, but it is also not allowed to treat them as a part outside the context. If they provide sincere examinations and participate in the construction of a national project, their mass and organizational weight will be part of the solution, and not being part of the crisis. In addition, we must take into account what Islamic currents have significant tactical ingenuity.

They are good for restoring, building alliances and interacting with variables. Consequently, the real challenge remains the ability to get out of their own world and interact with the general mood that expresses the aspirations of a people who wants to get out of the circles of failure, exclusion and blood. Consequently, a new discourse must be transcended by ideology towards national realism and addresses people in the language of accommodation.

The Islamists, whether we agree with them or in disagreement, have a real capacity to form the scene if they are released from the delusions of the past, and they extend the hand to a real national partnership. On the other hand, if the international quadruple wants a viable regulation, he must face all the Sudanese forces in a realistic way, not to seek to cut the scene according to the accounts of their interests.

In the light of what we see from the face of the truth, Sudan does not need political engineering which is drawn abroad, as much as it must be rebuilt a national interior project, which the Sudanese themselves do, and everyone participates without exclusion. This is not achieved unless it encounters the ingenuity of Islamic tactics with the sincerity of the national journal, and the quartet has abandoned the logic of the superstructure, in favor of supporting a complete dialogue which does not exclude anyone and does not exclude anyone.

You are fine and well.
