Interior Minister inspects rain-affected people, accompanied by Northern Governor

The Governor of the Northern State, Mr. Abdeen Awadallah, has called for sovereign decisions to open the Dongola airport for the entry of humanitarian aid from people of the state residing abroad.

His Excellency also thanked the Arab Republic of Egypt, which has provided and continues to provide assistance to the citizens of the Northern State, as well as regional and national organizations.

This happened during the inspection visit of the Home Minister to the people affected by torrential rains in various localities of the state.

The Home Minister was briefed on the cumulative report on the effects of floods and rains in the state.

Interior Minister His Excellency General Khalil Pasha, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Civil Defense, praised the interventions made by the northern government to mitigate the severity of the autumn disasters.

He announced the Home Office's support for emergencies with fifty million pounds to meet emergency needs.

*For his part, the Governor of the Northern State, Mr. Abdeen Awadallah, praised the role played by civil society organizations and regional and humanitarian organizations from the State of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt in providing assistance alongside military and security institutions, the Sudanese Mineral Resources Corporation and the Zakat Office for the support they provided to the affected people in the different regions of the state.

The Northern Governor also thanked the citizens of the state for their solidarity, cooperation and assistance to the affected people.

*In the same context, His Excellency Major General Dr. Abdul Rahman Faqiri*, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Vigilance and Popular Resistance in the Northern State, said that the popular resistance is working alongside the emergency committees and citizens. He added that the Mustafarin Brigades have been mobilized to work among the Civil Support Brigades to provide assistance in the areas of health, shelter and collection of water accumulated due to rainfall.

The Head of Emergencies, Mr. Awad Al-Karim Rabie, the Secretary General of the Government, the Head of Emergencies and members of the audience provided a comprehensive overview of the situation in the state.

The Speaker announced that 38 people have died since the onset of rains and torrential downpours till yesterday in the seven localities of the state. He also announced that 257 areas of the state have been affected, resulting in the complete collapse of 9,483 houses. and the partial collapse of 7,843 houses.

Rabie said the number of affected families in the state has reached 38,994 families, and 8,414 palm trees have been damaged, 10,100 fruit trees have been damaged and 7,842 acres have been damaged.

Rabie added in his teaching that the needs of the state are housing, food and health.
