Kassala Customs achieves an increase exceeding the planned rate (an increase of 60%)

The Director of the Customs Department in the Eastern Sector of Kassala, Brigadier General of the Human Rights Police, Hafez Al-Tijani, confirmed that the opening of the container customs point in Kassala State has brought a major commercial change for the region and provided the state treasury with significant funds, noting that the customs has achieved a coupling rate of 601% increase.
Speaking today at a press briefing limited to journalists, Al-Tahani said that the Kassala Customs Department is working in full harmony with the rest of the components of the state government and is playing a supervisory role at the crossing points (Krayit, Awad, Al-Laffa and Hamdayet). He explained that the pace of work has been completed by 80% at the main crossing of Al-Laffa and that a committee has been formed within the Federal Ministry of Finance, Customs and Police to complete the maintenance work of the crossing and officially open it for border trade with the State of Eritrea, noting that many requests have been received from suppliers and exporters for the purpose of trading with Eritrea.
Al-Tijani announced the imminent opening of Kassala International Airport, which will become an alternative to relieve the pressure on Port Sudan Airport in the coming period. He revealed arrangements to involve all customs agencies to open Kassala International Airport.
In the context of social responsibility, Al-Tijani explained that the customs administration periodically visits the wounded of the Karama battle at the State Armed Forces Medical Hospital and provides them with in-kind and material support as well as means to facilitate movement brought from the city of Port Sudan.
