Member of the Sovereignty Council, Lt. General Jaber orders banks and institutions to improve financing opportunities for the country’s economic development programs

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Preparing the Environment for Return to Khartoum State, Lt. Engineer General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, has ordered Sudanese banks to meet the challenge of the state in achieving technical change in financial transactions in the country.
Today, during the inauguration of the Bank of Khartoum branch on Airport Street, in the presence of the Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Othman Hamza, and the branch managers of the Bank of Khartoum, His Excellency called for the need to improve the quality of banking applications and accelerate the opening of all branches spread across Khartoum State to meet the needs of citizens and institutions back.
The member of the Sovereign Council also highlighted the need for banks to implement policies that ensure growth and economic stability of the country, and to strive to use their cash income in economic development by financing small and medium-sized businesses and industries, stressing that the Supreme Committee will seek with the Central Bank to increase the amount allocated to support and finance these economic projects and programs that benefit banks and small investors, in order to provide the greater number of jobs and employment opportunities to citizens. Furthermore, His Excellency renewed the State’s commitment to move forward in the implementation of monetary policy for optimal management of the economy, through digital transformation and its application in building financial inclusion, conducting collection and payment operations and enabling banking applications by connecting all the safe states of Sudan. Khartoum State is now linked, in addition to Gezira State soon, in addition to continuing the process of currency replacement, which has helped banks build large cash balances through digital transformation and the availability of infrastructure for these applications across Sudan.
His Excellency indicated that the State continues to complete the rest of the programs and include government transactions within the Baladna platform, in order to obtain full jurisdiction over public money and use it to provide services to citizens.
For his part, Khartoum Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza announced the increase in the number of banks and institutions operating in Khartoum as part of the indicators of the continued recovery of public life and the stability of the state’s economic and banking sectors. Stressing that the State is moving towards the computerization of financial transactions and the reduction of cash transactions.
The Khartoum governor also spoke about efforts to prepare the capital to receive the Government of Hope, United Nations agencies, diplomatic missions and all sectors, in order to find systems offering technical services at the height of global development. The governor also called on banks to contribute to reconstruction and finance certain vital projects.
