Minister of Energy and Oil announces progress of work on Shendi alternative station and plans to restore services to Khartoum

Al-Moatasem Advisor Engineer Ibrahim Jadallah, Minister of Energy and Petroleum, confirmed that work on the Shendi Alternative Power Plant, with a production capacity of 10 megawatts, is progressing well, which contributes to ensuring electricity supply and supporting the region’s agricultural sector.
The minister revealed planned projects to strengthen cooperation in the field of solar energy, highlighting the government’s continued efforts to restore basic services in Khartoum State, particularly in the electricity, water and hospital sectors.
He explained that his visit today to Nile State was to monitor the conditions on the ground at the Atbara converter station, following the extensive damage it suffered following the targeting of energy sector infrastructure, stressing that work is underway to remedy the effects of the destruction and return the station to operation.
The Minister inspected the progress of works at the Shendi Alternative Energy Station, in addition to a number of service facilities in Shendi Locality, which included the General Surgery Building, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Oxygen Plant and ongoing maintenance works in the operational complex, accompanied by the Executive Director of Shendi Locality, Mr. Hajj Bala Ahmed Sumi, the Director of Shendi University, Dr. Hassan Awad Al-Karim, and the director of the Shendi security unit.
The minister stressed that the visit to Nile State falls within the social responsibility of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum in supporting the health sector, stressing that the preparation of the hospital environment and the provision of therapeutic services represent a top priority in the programs of the Government of Hope during the next phase.
