Minister of Health: Malnutrition cases have increased in some closed areas under Rapid Support control

The Federal Ministries of Health and Agriculture announced the agreement to facilitate and expedite procedures, registration and proactive arrangements for sending documents related to pesticides from the countries concerned and their monitoring so that the authorization process can be completed more quickly and ensure their safety, especially pesticides used to combat autumn epidemics, stressing the importance of taking the necessary measures to combat the density of mosquitoes and flies.

The joint meeting of the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim with the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Bushra, in his quarantined office, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Drugs and Poisons Board, Dr. Ali Babiker, Dr. Noha Salehin, Director of Nutrition, discussed the nutritional situation in Sudan, as well as the imports of pesticides and the procedures introduced in Sudan to combat disease vectors.

called for the need to hold a joint press conference to clarify the detailed facts and information and the importance of providing health, food and nutrition services to the besieged citizens in these areas, stressing the need to break the siege imposed on citizens by the Rapid Support, and opening some crossing points such as Al-Tina and South Sudan and airports to meet all food needs and enable health and nutrition services in all areas under its control, with the Ministry of Health continuing its work, in partnership with organizations. , in treating cases of mild and severe malnutrition in hospitals and nutrition centers, as well as activating awareness, health education and breastfeeding programs.

Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim, that the meeting discussed the nutritional situation in Sudan from the perspective of the Ministry of Health and Agriculture, and presented the agricultural position of the Minister of Agriculture, who confirmed that there is no famine in Sudan based on the standards, revealing the cultivated areas and cereals present in the country, especially maize and millet, and that the report to which she referred. Some UN agencies lack information and statistics, especially since it does not include all states in Sudan due to the war. added that the standards on which the report was based are not correct, calling for facilitating the delivery of seeds and cereals and the delivery of food to citizens through the crossing points designated by the Sudanese government. He went on to say that the support of Al-Sari'i forces. adopted a policy of starving citizens and looting food deliveries.

Haitham revealed that malnutrition rates among children and mothers were high before the war and the ministry had conducted some studies and interventions, but the outbreak of the war and the entry of rapid support and its invasion of new areas and states led to the existence of semi-closed areas in Darfur, Kordofan and some areas of Khartoum and Gezira states, which increased malnutrition rates.

The minister explained the reasons other than lack of food, which increase malnutrition rates, such as childhood diseases, diarrhea, lack of adequate vaccinations and repeated displacement, as well as the education of mothers on breastfeeding and nutritional culture.
