Nile Deputy Governor highlights the importance of the resilience project in supporting the development of the state and stresses the importance of giving top priority to education issues.

Mr. Mustafa Mohamed Othman Al-Sharif, Deputy Governor of Nile State and Minister of Culture, Information and Communications, confirmed that the resilience project, funded by UNICEF with support from the Bank global, represents a “leap forward” in the field of resilience. the state development process, noting that the project aims to improve the lives of citizens directly by improving basic services and empowering local communities.

This came during his speech at the workshop on Resilience Project Launch and Stakeholder Participation, held at the Nile State Police Hall, Atbara.

In the presence of a number of ministers and heads of state, the deputy governor praised the role of UNICEF in supporting Nile State, particularly in the area of ​​education, stressing the importance to prioritize education by providing school meals, opening new classrooms. and the rehabilitation of educational establishments.

The deputy governor highlighted the importance of the resilience project in supporting the state's basic services, particularly education, health and water, noting that the state is facing great challenges due to displacement and population increase. He stressed the need to strengthen the capacities of local communities and empower women and youth to face these challenges. The deputy governor called for focusing on improving water services and environmental health, building women's capacities in production and training, and qualifying youth to lead their communities. He stressed the importance of cooperation with all organizations to achieve sustainable development of the State, stressing that the State is open to all efforts contributing to improving the situation of citizens.

For his part, Dr. Othman Abu Fatima, coordinator of the UNICEF Resilience Program, stressed that the choice of Nile State for this project was due to its community heritage and its capacity to participate in strengthening services social. He explained that the project will aim to strengthen existing community initiatives and will target, in a first phase, the localities of Al-Damer and Shendi.

Ms. Howayda Mouloud, representative of the Minister of Finance and Manpower, underlined the importance of this project in supporting the State plan for 2025, stressing that the priorities of the project are consistent with government priorities.
