Dr. Magda Abdullah Ali, Director General of the Nile Ministry of Health, met today in her office with a delegation from the International Eye Foundation – Mecca Eye Hospitals – led by Al-Aas Ahmed Kamel, Regional Director of the Foundation, Professor Mohamed Nour Hassan, Director of the Medical Department of the Foundation, and Dr. Loay Amin Al-Sayed, Director of the Makkah Eye Hospital in Atbara.
The meeting discussed the pioneering role of the International Sight Foundation – Mecca Eye Hospital – in localizing in-house treatment for various eye specialties through treatment camps established inside and outside Sudan, training medical personnel in the eye specialty and issuing a large number of pioneering degrees in ophthalmology.
The minister expressed her satisfaction with the work of Makkah Hospital in the state and its role in treating and combating blindness, stressing that this institution is well known.
Majda praised the important and continuous work carried out by the Foundation in the areas of training and localization of therapeutic and diagnostic services within the state.
For his part, the regional director of the International Sight Foundation, Al-Aas Ahmed Kamel, reviewed the work of the Foundation and the work performance report during the previous period and presented the new projects of the Foundation, indicating that the Foundation has carried out, until the end of August, 9,744 surgical operations, including operations performed outside the country, which contributed to localizing treatment at home and reducing the cost of treatment abroad.
Al-Aas promised that the Nile State would be promised a huge work in carrying out free operations and reducing the burden on citizens.
