Northern Governor meets Qatar Red Crescent delegation, reviews results of visit
The Governor of the Northern State, Mr. Abdeen Awadallah, met in his office with a delegation from the Qatar Red Crescent, in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Ms. Manal Makkawi, and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, State Aid Commission, Dr. Abdul Rahman Ali Khairy.

The governor thanked the government and people of the State of Qatar for standing with the Sudanese people in all their problems and providing humanitarian assistance to families affected by torrents and rains.
The director of the Qatar Red Crescent office in Sudan said:
Dr. Salah Al-Daak, in a statement to the Voice of the Armed Forces radio after the conclusion of his inspection tour during which he provided assistance to those affected by the torrents and rains that hit various regions of the northern state, said that the torrents caused a great collapse and destruction that the mind cannot comprehend.
I am amazed by the strength and determination of the people in the affected areas, whose resolve has not wavered, even though things around them are shattered.
Al-Daak explained that the Qatari Red Crescent observed the damage caused by torrents and rains in the areas of Dongola, Dalqo, Merowe and Tangasi.
It provided an initial batch of aid, including 540 tents and a number of blankets, as well as shelter materials, which will be followed by food baskets in the coming days.
He stressed that they are aware of the needs of the Ministry of Health, especially in intensive care, accidents and the Argo hospital.
He stressed that he had informed them of a number of project proposals and had committed to carrying them out in the next stage, including the reconstruction of the damaged houses which had been fully studied.
He called on all organizations to stand with the affected people as the extent of the damage was extensive and affected various areas of the state and completely destroyed them.
Al-Daak thanked the acting governor of the northern state, Abdeen Awadallah, for facilitating the procedures of the delegation visiting the state, as well as the advisor to the state governor.
