Northern Governor receives FAO delegation

The Governor of the Northern State, Mr. Abdeen Awadallah, received in his office the Deputy Resident Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The Director General of the Ministry of Production and State Economic Resources, Engineer Hussein Abdel Ghafour, said that the meeting discussed the state's needs in terms of providing alternative and renewable energy, combating desert encroachment and destruction, as well as food security, as well as the state's willingness to rely on the organization's expertise to valorize palm waste to prevent fires.

The Director General of the Ministry of Production indicated that the Deputy Resident Representative of the organization, during his visit to the state, facilitated the shipments of maize seeds to Darfur and Kordofan states, via the city of Al-Dabba.

For his part, the Deputy Resident Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) explained:

Mr. Adam Yao said they were following up on the maize seed distribution campaign which targets 17 states including the northern state. He explained that the purpose of the visit to the northern state is to determine its needs in the country in the areas of agriculture, livestock and fisheries.

He stressed the organization's readiness to contribute to the support and stabilization of displaced persons, and provide interventions to support small farmers and fisherfolk and protect livestock in the state.
