Property of agricultural projects for returnees from South Sudan in White Nile State, a gift from the Blue Nile region

The Minister of Production and Economic Resources of White Nile State, representing the Governor, Engineer Wessal Sheikh Farah, affirmed the efforts and commitment of the state government to provide returning and displaced citizens of South Sudan State during the secession period of the year two thousand and eleven agricultural projects in implementation of the decisions of the Sovereignty Council regarding the deduction of twenty percent from each state for the benefit of those returning from South Sudan State.

This came during his speech this afternoon in the local hall of Kosti during the celebration organized by the Organization for the Care of Sudanese Returnees and Displaced Persons from the State of South Sudan on the occasion of the return of farmers in seventy agricultural projects out of a total of three hundred rain-fed agricultural projects donated by the Blue Nile region, in the presence of Madani Mahdi Madani, Chairman of the organization, and Professor Imad Qadim, Director of the Social Development Sector, Mr. Maher Bashir, Deputy Executive Director of Kosti. Locality and a number of relevant authorities.

The governor's representative said White Nile is one of the states most affected by the secession of South Sudan in agricultural and livestock projects, announcing the commitment of the state government to review the housing file of southern returnees in the state in coordination with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development.

Meanwhile, Professor Madani Mahdi Madani, head of the Organization for the Care of Sudanese Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons from the State of South Sudan, explained that the organization works on four main axes, including identity and housing, and that the organization includes nine societal segments, reviewing the projects that have been approved for returnees in a number of states in the areas of production and housing, calling on all returnees to unity of class and discourse and support for national issues.

For his part, Professor Sheikh Abdullah Othman Al-Aqib, representative of the farmers, highlighted the damage caused to returning and displaced farmers due to the loss of agricultural infrastructure, represented by land and agricultural machinery.
