Red Crescent: (6,500) thousand baskets from the State of Qatar and the Red Cross en route to North Kordofan State
Emergency Coordinator: We have submitted statements to the International Committee to provide direct support to (10) families in Chikan.
Coordinator Fadl Al-Sayyid: The Plan Soudan organization pays (140) thousand pounds per month to Al-Abyad's family, as well as the Mercy organization pays (180) thousand pounds per month to each family, and the organization Eyas pays (240) thousand pounds to the family, and the Islamic Relief Organization pays (120) thousand pounds per month to the family. We hope that these figures will constitute an objective indicator on which the International Committee of the Red Cross will base its direct support, in relation to market prices.
Hudhayfah: The inventory of (62) thousand displaced families in North Kordofan does not at best (10%) equal the total number of displaced people in the state and those in need of assistance, so we need of an influx of relief.
Emergency Coordinator: We have (1,789) baskets and we will distribute them in full coordination with the commissioner of the Commission for Humanitarian Aid to Internally Displaced Persons in Al-Obeid.
Follow-ups: Al-Zein Kandowa
The Emergency Coordinator of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in North Kordofan State, Mr. Hudhayfah Fadl Al-Sayyed Abdel-Rahman, said they have received confirmed communications from the Qatar Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross to provide (6,500) baskets. to distribute to the displaced.
Hudhayfah mentioned that the details of the relief are as follows: The International Committee of the Red Cross will provide (1,500) baskets, while the Qatar Red Crescent Society will provide (5,000) five thousand baskets, to be distributed to their arrival in Al-Obeid to the displaced people in the camps.
Hudhayfah said the state Red Crescent Society was in continuous communication with the International Committee of the Red Cross and statements had been sent to it to provide direct support to the people of Shikan locality in (10 ) thousand families in order to alleviate their suffering.
Concerning the question of the financial amount expected for each family? Hudhayfah explained that the number has not yet been determined and it is up to the Red Cross Committee to set it based on market variables and daily prices. But we helped them with some numerical indicators on the amounts on which they could rely. For example, the Plan Soudan organization pays (140) thousand pounds per family per month in blank, as well as the Mercy organization which pays (180) thousand per family. per month to each family, and the Eyas organization pays (240) thousand pounds per family, and the Islamic Relief Bank pays (120) thousand pounds per month to the family. Hudhayfah said that all these organizations distribute direct cash aid in blank, that's why we increased these numbers in the study as indicators and guide for the International Committee of the Red Cross to help it make the decision appropriate.
What about the total number of displaced people in the state? Hudhayfah revealed that this number is very large and was not counted accurately due to security conditions. It is true that we were counted at the start of the war, but the statistics were preliminary and very limited because they covered some local towns of the war. the state, which are only the towns of Umm Rawaba, Al-Rahad Abu Dakna, Sudari, Bara and Shikan. As for the towns of Umm Dam Haj Ahmed, Gharb Bara and Jabrat al-Sheikh, we do not have the slightest information about them and all their villages have certainly received displaced people.
Fadl Al-Sayyid said that the numbers we counted at that time were around (62) thousand displaced families.
He explained that this percentage certainly does not represent at best (10%) compared to the large wave of displacement in the five cities (Umm Rawaba, Al-Rahad Abu Dakna, Shikan, Bara, Soudari). So these numbers have certainly doubled. in an astronomical manner because the count did not include any of the villages in the eight localities of the state, not even the administrative units.
Hudhayfah said the state needs urgent interventions to provide relief to the affected people, especially rural and urban residents, and must reach them without any objection.
Is there currently any relief in Al-Abyad that could be distributed to IDPs in the unified camp and to IDPs sheltering with their families in Al-Abyad town?
Hudhayfah Fadl Al-Sayyid explained: We now have (1,786) targeted baskets according to the distribution plan for displaced people in camps, neighborhoods and people with special needs.
The distribution will be done in full coordination with the Commissioner of the North Kordofan State Humanitarian Aid Commission.
