Sennar: Return of Naira and Umm Marhi projects to production department strengthens food security

In a move that reflects the priority of agriculture in the economic recovery program, the Governor of Sennar State, Major General Al-Zubair Hassan Al-Sayyid, affirmed his government’s commitment to developing and rehabilitating irrigated projects in the state, ensuring their effective entry into the production circle and supporting food security.

This happened today during his inspection visit to the Umm Marhi stream of Abu Hajjar locality, accompanied by the members of the state security committee, the Director General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources and a number of members of the state government, where he inspected the comprehensive maintenance works recently carried out for the stream.

The governor was assured of the normal progress of irrigation operations in Naira and Umm Marhi projects, stressing the need to overcome all obstacles facing the agricultural season, in order to ensure stable production and achieve the desired results.

He explained that the rehabilitation of irrigated projects represents a top priority in the state’s economic plan, stressing that the return of these projects to operate at full capacity will directly contribute to achieving food security and improving the standard of living of citizens in the region.

For their part, farmers of the Naira and Umm Marhi projects expressed satisfaction with the serious steps taken by the state government to rehabilitate the irrigation system, stressing that the return of water to the orchards represents a strong impetus for the return to production and the success of the agricultural season, appreciating the state’s response to the demands of farmers and its continued support to the production process.
