Shendi: Multiple Methods to Combat and Refute Rumors, Drugs and Hate Speech

Shendi locality has taken multiple measures to combat rumors, drugs, hate speech and racism through a number of means and programs.

Treatments were delivered directly through the media, in community centers and neighborhoods, and in squares and plazas.

The locality has employed an esteemed number of theatre stars to present dramatic scenes addressing all the ills of society and threats to community cohesion.

Shindi Locality Executive Director Khaled Abdul Ghaffar Al-Sheikh met with Sudanese theatre stars Zakir Saeed and Muhammad Sabahi from Ansam Theatre Group.

The Executive Director highlighted the role of arts, theatre and drama in solving and providing solutions to many societal problems.

He pointed out that one of the issues addressed by the drama is that of refuting the rumors spread by websites, producers and promoters, as they have a great psychological impact on people.

He said that rumors take many forms and colors and have rooms specialized in their production in order to achieve their goal, which is the psychological defeat of those they target.

Abdel Ghaffar said that the war that broke out in Sudan has made citizens aware of the magnitude of the rumor industry and its role in shaping a certain public opinion.

He stressed that the Sudanese people were able to know the rumor and how to deal with it.

He said that the rumor dies in its place and time if it does not find a promoter on social networks or other media, and this is what the local community aims to achieve through this treatment by fighting all the diseases of society so that it can live healthy and free from everything that threatens social peace.

Theatre star Zakir Saeed said that theatre is the father of arts, and the saying goes, “Give me a theatre and I will give you a nation,” hence the importance of theatre in solving social problems we aim through the works we present in North and South Shendi.

The General Administration of Culture, Media and Communications in Shindi began implementing programs in the city's neighborhoods to refute the rumors through dramatic works presented by theater stars coming to Shendi, including the famous theater star Muhammad Sayed Ahmed, Ali Warta and Imam. Hassan Imam. The campaign began in Square 8, Shindi above, which was inaugurated by the Executive Director of the Shandi locality Khaled Abdel Ghaffar Al-Sheikh and moved to Square 20 and then to the rest of the squares.
