Small Business: A Strong Effort for the Reconstruction of Sudan – Something for the Homeland – ✍️ Mr. Salah Ghariba
On June 27 each year, the world celebrates Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Day, in honor of their central role in economic development and creation of employment opportunities. This year, the occasion takes on particular significance for Sudan, which is going through a critical stage of reconstruction and recovery after decades of conflict.
Start-ups and micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are essential pillars of any thriving economy. It provides new employment opportunities, contributes to the diversification of the economy, promotes innovation and supports sustainable development, and its role in the reconstruction of Sudan involves the creation of employment opportunities, because Sudan suffers from high unemployment, especially among young people, and they suffer more after the end of the war, regardless of the situation. Small and medium-sized businesses help solve the unemployment problem by creating new employment opportunities tailored to the skills and abilities of young people. Estimates indicate that small and medium enterprises in Sudan will employ more than 80% of the workforce if proper planning is done. Small and medium-sized businesses contribute to the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by war, such as roads, buildings and schools. , and hospitals. Small and medium enterprises help support vital sectors of the Sudanese economy, such as agriculture, industry, trade and tourism, encourage small and medium enterprises to innovate and develop new solutions to the challenges facing the country is facing. country.
The Sudanese community in Egypt has great skills and capabilities that qualify them for entrepreneurship and launching successful projects, in terms of availability of expertise in various fields and an extensive network of relationships, knowledge and individuals on the Egyptian market.
The conditions for success are through training and qualification, and Sudanese entrepreneurs in Egypt need training and qualification in various areas such as business management, marketing and finance, in addition to the need to have financing. Small and medium-sized businesses are facing difficulties. obtaining appropriate financing, in addition to the availability of public support and the need for official bodies to provide numerous support programs for small and medium-sized businesses, with the need to spread the culture of entrepreneurship among members of the Sudanese community in Egypt, and the media can play an important role in raising awareness among members of the Sudanese community about the importance of small and medium-sized businesses.
Among the initiatives that should be put in place and support entrepreneurship, such as the proposed “Ibdaa” program to support entrepreneurs, the “Sudan” fund to support small and medium-sized businesses and the provision of more business incubators businesses.
Some of the inspiring success stories I have followed among some young people include “Nawal” project of dairy product manufacturing, “Ebtikar” software development company, and others.
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Day is an ideal opportunity to highlight the role of these enterprises in the reconstruction and economic revival of Sudan. Through the concerted efforts of the government, civil society and the private sector, small and medium enterprises can contribute significantly to building a better future for Sudan.
