Sudan and China .. Raida and new violin – the face of the truth – ✍️ Ibrahim Shaqlawi
From the beginning of one of the poems of Abdul Karim Al -kabli, the artist of patriotism and liberation, we borrow a title which constitutes a conceptual entry from the realization of international relations in a Sudanese perspective. The “renewed raida” with all the symbolism of confidence and loyalty that goes beyond the emotional state, to become the expression of a model of mutual political and moral engagement, is clearly embodied in the relationship of Sudan with China. This relationship, which was based on respect for sovereignty and the rejection of prerequisites, represents a model of a strategic alliance based on balance, not on dependence and in harmony with the interests of peoples, and not by making them sing.
Between Khartoum and Beijing, a distinguished communication between two capital and a solid relationship that strikes its roots in history. Since the 1960s of the last century, Sudan wants to document the link with China, in order to realize that it needs a development partner who does not speak the language of dictates, but rather extends his hand to work and assistance, which he has found in China. Indeed, some are more restoring the roots of this convergence, when the colonial adventures of Gordon Pasha started in China, and they were extinguished in Sudan, as if the fate of the two countries spitting early with the heritage of resistance to arrogance and imperialism.
This relationship, which has remained for decades between economic cooperation and political support for decades, has recently returned to take a clearer and more vital dimension, with the visit of President Abdel Fattah Al -Burhan in Beijing last September, in the activities of the China -Africa Cooperation Forum. A very important visit, because it brought Sudan to one of the greatest geopolitical and economic frameworks of the 21st century, which is the “belt and road” initiative.
During this visit, China has shown that it was still as good as Sudanese think. In just two days, huge agreements exceeding $ 7 billion was signed, according to SONA, which included projects in the fields of energy, construction and modernization of ports and airports, mining, generation and transport of electricity, and a qualitative agreement has been signed in the defense of defense with the Chinese company “Polly”, to promote the sovereign and the state in Wartime and beyond.
This package of agreements expressed the declaration of strategic intentions on both sides to the reconstruction of Sudan, which goes beyond the reconstruction of the country’s position on the map of geopolitical transformations. It is also an indication that China always considers Sudan as a reliable and reliable partner, because of its unique geographical location on the Red Sea, where security meets the economy and is made of sales.
These days, China completes the place of its political and economic support for the rehabilitation of the Hall Friendship and the new republican palace, which had already contributed to their construction, the first in 1976 with subsequent developments in 2005, and the second between 2011 and 2014 with direct support from Beijing. Today, it is up to the war to restart war, in a stage which implies appreciation, loyalty and respect.
In accordance with this vision, General Mohamed El -Ghali, secretary -general of the sovereign council, announced last week the completion of the first phase of the rehabilitation of the Republican Palace, in preparation for the start of the second stage, which is implemented by the popular state of China.
These measures mean that the rehabilitation of the republican palace actually reflects the return of the state to its natural location, its desire to enter a new stage which requires the restoration of old alliances with friends and their use in the right direction.
In this context, the discourse of the Chinese representative of the Security Council came last week to define a new political brick. He clearly affirmed the support of the Government of Hope, given the appointment of a Civil Prime Minister to Sudan a positive stage which must be supported, and that Sudan alone has the right to define its political path, calling for respect for its sovereignty and the unity of its territory.
It is a position that has found the praise of observers, because it expresses the international philosophy of China based on positive neutrality and respect for national privacy, which makes it more acceptable in Africa compared to traditional powers.
Consequently, this historic moment calls for the Sudanese people and a government to be as difficult and to realize that China is not only an economic partner, but a partner of the Renaissance. And if a clear vision of the relationship is placed with it, on the basis of supreme interest, and not political fluctuations, Khartoum can benefit a lot from this productive alliance and the firmness of the relationship between the two peoples.
This confirms that the Sudanese state, despite the challenges it is going through, is always able to impose its presence, if it is good to read its alliances, to realize its priorities and to rebuild itself far from delusions and promises.
It is, according to what we see from the face of truth, peace and development can quickly increase in Sudan, provided that the sincere will, a clear vision and real partners are available. At the forefront of these partners, China always represents the face of the old friend, who has not failed Sudan, and always believes that loyalty to relations based on respect and mutual appreciation – “al -raida” – in politics as in poetry, will not die if it is sincere.
