'Press release'

The Government of Sudan expresses its surprise and rejection of the sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department on the Director General of the Sudanese Defense Industries System.

The government denounces the justification by the American administration of the sanctions that the armed forces sought to obtain weapons, because this contradicts logic and justice, given that the mission of national armies is originally to defend their countries and their peoples and to acquire all the strength that allows them to do so. Otherwise, it will not be possible to achieve security, peace and stability at the national, regional and international levels.

This decision means that the American administration still turns a blind eye to the origin of the flow of arms and mercenaries towards terrorist militias to continue its war against the Sudanese people, despite the succession of documented testimonies on the international and American scene, and in the face of demands from U.S. lawmakers to take serious action against the militias responsible for continuing and fueling the war. Instead, the administration seeks to deprive Sudan's armed forces of the capabilities that would allow them to protect citizens against genocide, ethnic cleansing, and unprecedented militia atrocities.

Its attempt to pretend to be neutral between the armed forces and the militias will not absolve the US administration of its moral and political responsibility for the continued massacres of civilians in Sudan at the hands of terrorist militias, as is currently happening in the east of Al-Jazeera and Al-Butana.
