Today Monday, the Sudan Coalition for Education for All launched a birth registration campaign in the Red Sea State in Al-Ashi Model and Industrial Schools, which includes a number of people displaced. The campaign targets 26 shelters in Port Sudan city. and seven localities in the Red Sea State and will continue until the end of next December, while UNICEF is committed to establishing seven civil registration offices in the seven localities to register births. The coalition is implementing this campaign with UNICEF and in partnership with the civil registry.
The Director General of the Sudan Coalition for Education for All, Mr. Naji Mansour Al-Shafi'i, said after the launch of the campaign in Asha Model and Industrial Schools, that the campaign aims to record all births and all children in the Red Sea. The State, in addition to displaced persons and refugees, is preparing the issuance of birth certificates for them, specifying that the campaign targets 40,000 families in the first phase and that it has completed the training of 73 officers and non-commissioned officers of civil status, as well as the training of 80 people. women leaders to raise awareness about the process and the importance of registration. Naji noted that every child born in Sudan has the right to obtain a birth certificate and be registered in the birth registry, stressing that Sudan chose this project to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. He noted added that we are targeting the media to play a role. a greater role in the awareness-raising process for the success of the birth registration campaign, and that we emphasize the importance of the effective role of the media alongside local government leaders and health visitors.
