Sudan's Difficult Days… Corruption Suffocates the State (2) ✍️ Rashan O'Shea
This became apparent to me late, and no doubt to others a long time ago, but it was a discovery which in any case frustrated me, very disappointing. In general, the corrupt are like trees that pollinate the air.
The crisis preceded the day when Sudan woke up with a strong explosion, when the “Al-Dagalo” militia rushed and stormed the territory of the State of Sudan, created even before the year 1956 AD. the style of a slap “Sudan Lock”, i.e. covering the capital with the fire of complete murder and destruction, i.e. violent revenge that exterminates humans and destroys stones and the harvests. The world held its breath and questions were on everyone's lips… Who is responsible for all this destruction?
What is responsible for this is the inherited system of corruption (political, economic, administrative, etc.), with the increasing growth of leeches of the people through several aspects, including tolerance towards the agenda stranger, allowing his arms to extend and closing his eyes. to the corruption of those around them who exploit the influence of the State to achieve personal objectives.
Corrupt state leaders believed the war environment was more conducive to achieving undeclared goals.
Well… our second story in the series (Exposing Authoritarian Corruption) began when two individuals affiliated with a regular organization noticed a suspicious movement of two citizens, one of whom was carrying a heavy bag, in the Grand Market of Port Sudan. arrested them, and upon inspection, (22) kilos of gold were found inside the bag…
Complaints were filed against them by the mining prosecutor's office. They said in their statements that the gold belonged to company (X), affiliated with the armed forces, and that they were about to sell it to buy weapons.
To prove its claim, the prosecution received an official letter signed by a senior official of the Sovereignty Council, confirming that the company belongs to the army. two people and has no connection with the armed forces.
This employee tried to neutralize the prosecution and transform the case from a criminal case (the crime of gold smuggling) into a crime of circumvention of procedures, which usually ends with a sanction, which consists of the payment of a fine consisting of the confiscation of a percentage. of (20%) of the total gold seized, and until now, the attempts continue.
Every time the world in Sudan was filled with images of towns burned by “Al Dagalo” militias, and the panic of survivors over their children and families killed by indiscriminate bombing, corrupt people seeking power were busy to accumulate a lot of goods. personal gains.
The national battle has spread to two levels: the military field and the corridors of the corrupt state. This is the first time that Sudanese people agree that the war against corruption runs parallel to the fighting on the ground. So you will find hundreds of warriors on the battlefield against authoritarian corruption, which means that Sudan's existential battle has taken on a broader scope. it has become a new front.
