The call from Sudan to Unido: a glimmer of hope for a sustainable industrial renaissance – something for the fatherland – ✍️ Mr. Salah is strange

Sudan is going through a difficult period due to the conflicts that have led to general destruction in its infrastructure, in particular the industrial sector, which has been subject to systematic vandalism and looting. In the midst of these challenges, Sudan’s call to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (Unidi) and its Member States emerged with a glimmer of hope for the reconstruction of this vital sector and the reconstruction of the Sudanese economy. This invitation, which was presented by Ambassador Magdi Ahmed Mufaddal during meetings of the Unidi Industrial Development Council, is not limited to requesting financial support, but also represents a complete vision of a sustainable industrial renaissance.

The Sudanese vision revolves around the creation of integrated industrial agricultural complexes. This trend reflects a deep understanding of the enormous agricultural capacities of Sudan, which, if it is effectively linked to the industrial sector, it can reach enormous added value and offer in -depth employment opportunities. Instead of exporting agricultural raw materials, Sudan can convert them into higher value-value products, which improves local value chains and reaches self-tension. This approach guarantees the connection of farmers with factories, factories and distributors, which creates an integrated and interdependent economic system which supports all parties.

The invitation also includes two vital aspects of the future of industry in Sudan: to improve the use of renewable energies in industry and the creation of vocational training centers. The emphasis on renewable energies reflects a commitment to sustainable development and the reduction of dependence on traditional energy sources, which reduces costs and protects the environment. As for the creation of vocational training centers in agricultural manufacturing and digital skills, this is an essential step to empower young Sudanese and provide them with the skills necessary for the advanced labor market. This investment in human capital guarantees the availability of trained workforce and is able to direct the industrial transformation process.

The Sudanese vision is not limited only to agriculture and manufacturing, but also extends to the strengthening of mining and linking Sudanese entrepreneurs to foreign markets. The responsible mining aims to exploit mineral wealth in Sudan in a sustainable and socially sustainable manner, guaranteeing the maximum of advantages for future generations. Regarding the connection of entrepreneurs to foreign markets, it is essential to open new horizons for investment and exports, which allows Sudanese companies to reach larger markets and increase their competitiveness worldwide.

Sudan’s call to Unido and its Member States is a call to the international community to stay in Sudan at this critical stage. Supporting this ambitious vision is not only humanitarian aid, but rather an investment in the stable and prosperous future for the whole region. The implementation of these initiatives will considerably contribute to rebuilding the Sudanese economy, providing employment opportunities, obtaining food security and promoting peace and stability. With the twenty-session of the General Conference of Unido to Riyadh in November 2025, we hope that this invitation will receive the desired answer and that the vision of Sudan will turn into a tangible reality that will benefit the Sudanese people and the whole international community.
