The committee for examining educational programs in Sudan: are we faced at the start of a fundamental change in the construction of the Sudanese person who distinguishes between exhibitions and betrayal? Abu al -tayeb Adam Hassan Suleiman

✍️ Analysis:

In a decision described as daring and articulated, the Minister of Education and National Education published Dr. Tuhami al-Zein Hajar, resolution n ° (5) of 2025, to form a supreme committee to review general education programs in Sudan. The tasks of this committee are a complete review of study programs in terms of adequacy for current reality, its ability to consolidate national education, improve unity and face hatred and racist discourse, in the light of the main social and political changes observed by Sudan.

📌 National security education

In a country in which ethnic, regional and religious divisions have multiplied, in which the close and long periods of the accumulated past, education can only be considered a problem of national security. Programs, in particular, are not only cognitive content, but rather a tool to form the consciousness of generations and formulate the citizen’s relationship with his homeland and his company.

Consequently, the examination of programs represents a very important step in the redefinition of the concept of “citizenship” in Sudan, after decades of unilateral indoctrination and the deliberate absence of the country’s cultural, linguistic and religious diversity.

Programs … Out of context

Reality indicates that current educational programs suffer from severe stagnation and do not reflect the changes that have occurred in the country and the aspirations of new generations. Many materials are always taught by the mentality before the millennium and are devoted to the culture of indoctrination and closure, rather than critical thinking and openness.

In addition, the absence of concepts such as peace, human rights, justice and citizenship equal to study programs, has made education unable to play its role in the fight against societal conflicts and can even contribute to deepening them.

🧩 Committee at the crossroads

Despite the importance of the decision, the Committee is found before real challenges, in particular:

Does the committee benefit from this historic opportunity from reformulating programs according to the challenges of the 20th centuries to which Sudan, its resources and people? Or does the traditional Sudanese mentality remain the dominant?

-Weakness of education infrastructure: how can modern programs succeed in schools that lack electricity, internet, libraries and even teachers in my country, they are faced with very complex life difficulties (do we see the visions and ideas of the Minister to improve their conditions soon)?

– Resistance to change: The evolution of programs is not always welcoming, in particular in rural or traditional societies which see in the old as a guarantee of identity, even if it is defective.

🌍 Historical opportunity

Despite these obstacles, the opportunity remains for Sudan to define a new base for a coherent and peaceful company. Other countries have succeeded in deep disputes (such as Rwanda and South Africa) to use education as a tool for national reconciliation. Is the Sudanese scenario repeated?

The introduction of concepts such as education on peace, cultural diversity, acceptance of the other, the rejection of racism and the global history of Sudan with all its components can change the future of future generations. Rather, it can be a starting point towards a new social contract which ends the courses of violence and rupture which have continued the country.

In conclusion

The Curricula Alone are not enough to build the homeland, but it is the first and most important building in the construction of a good citizen who distinguishes and differentiates between the opposition and betrayal, between the struggle and the world and the mercenaries, between respecting the Law and the pursuit of Misfortunes from it, between the achievement of Procrastination, Between Duty and Monitoring, Between Participation and Individual, Between Accountability and Transparency, Between Rights and Freedom, Between Strategic Planning and Layout today with a day and the passage of distinguished things and that we learn the lesson of our errors of our experiences and our experiences of our experiences and benefit from sermons and lessons when we actively participate in public life.

The big question remains:

Will the committee perform this serious task with courage and transparency? Or?

The next few days will reveal a lot.
