The Expanded Programme on Immunization reviews and updates guidelines for surveillance of childhood diseases.
The Federal Ministry of Health, represented by the General Administration of Basic Health Care – the Expanded Program on Immunization – organized a workshop (review and update of guidelines for disease surveillance and response to diseases that can be prevented by vaccination), at Al-Rih Al-Tarihi Hall in the city of Kassala, which will end next Saturday.
Acting Director of the General Department of Emergency for Basic Health Care, Muhtadi Mahmoud, said in a press statement after the opening session that the workshop is of great importance as it is being held in light of the circumstances the country is going through, the urgent need to modernize surveillance and response systems, as well as the importance of information on which decisions and interventions are based to respond to the epidemics expected due to these circumstances.
Mahmoud stressed that the ministry is prepared for all health events “that may occur here and there,” and that it prepares the staff through training and providing them with sufficient knowledge for early detection and intervention, and therefore early containment that leads to reducing losses due to the virus. deaths and patients.
For her part, the World Health Organization's head of vaccination in Sudan, Dr. Hanan Mukhtar, stressed that the workshop was to review the guidelines for surveillance of all diseases covered by vaccination, revise them in light of the current situation, develop general guidelines and review the response preparedness plan, noting that this is the participation of technicians and competent people from all levels of the organization, the ministry and states, and will continue for four days, to come out. It ends with agreed guidelines according to the update.
In addition, the representative of the Expanded Program on Immunization, Nader Hammad, said that the workshop is part of the efforts to review and update all the guidelines, especially since Sudan has recently experienced many changes that require revision to keep up, highlighting the participation of experts who represent the members of the advisory committees of the Expanded Program on Immunization and emergencies, he commended the World Health Organization for its support.
