The Ministry of Social Development and the Authority of United Nations women celebrates International Women’s Day 2025 AD

The Ministry of Social Development celebrated the International Women’s Day under the slogan “These are the past, present and current future”, with the participation of the Federal Minister for Social Development, the Minister of Federal Health in charge, d. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Minister of Local Government Eng. Mohamed Saleh Corticla, in addition to the presence of representatives of the United Nations organizations operating in the country. The celebration of the Rabwah Hotel Hall in Port Sudan took place today, Wednesday, in cooperation with the United Nations women.
In his speech during the celebration, Professor Ahmed Adam Bakhit, Minister of Social Development, confirmed that the celebration of the International Women’s Day is presented in exceptional circumstances that the country is going through following the war imposed on it by the rapidly reberational militia. He underlined the continuation of efforts to empower women economically and socially.
Bakhit noted the devastation that affected the infrastructure and violations committed against women due to the war, noting that Sudan’s commitment to meet the conditions of women and their support for production, in particular after the release of a large number of cities and regions of control of the militia. He added that a better future awaits Sudan, while improving social protection and sustainable development to reach a higher standard of living.
For his part, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Federal Minister of Health, in press statements during the celebration, that the ministry paid particular attention to the health of mothers and children in the emergency intervention plan during the war period. He explained that the ministry, in cooperation with United Nations agencies such as the United Nations Fund (UNFPA) and UNICEF, has helped reduce maternal mortality and solve health problems linked to pregnant women, in addition to providing medical and psychological support to victims of sexual violations committed by the elements of the rapid support militia.
Haitham underlined joint work with the ministries concerned, led by the Ministry of Social Development, to support women and girls and meet the challenges they face, stressing the importance of their role in building a brilliant future.
In turn, Malak pushed Mr. Abdel Qader, the under-secretary of the Ministry of Social Development, said that the celebration is of the circumstances that the country is going through the war launched by the rebellious militia, as well as the displacement and the appeal it produced in large numbers, and its impact on women. She stressed that Sudanese women made great sacrifices during the war and were victims of violations and trips. The feminist work pioneers who have done a lot since the independence of Sudan.
In the same context, the Qatari director of the United Nations women in Sudan, the Sulfate Ra Nicorainzra, spoke of the role of Sudanese women. Ms. Clement Nikueta Salami, resident representative and humanitarian affairs coordinator of the United Nations Secretary in Sudan. The celebration concluded the honor of pioneering women and some displaced women to appreciate their role.
