The President of the Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, meets the Minister of Justice designate

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General *Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan* met today with the Minister of Justice, Dr. Muawiya Muhammad Khair Ahmed, in the presence of Maulana Abu Bakr Omar Ahmed Al-Bashir, Justice of the Supreme Court and Head of the Liaison Coordination Office of the Government of the Republic of Sudan with the International Criminal Court.

The Minister of Justice said in a press statement: “The meeting discussed a number of judicial issues, in addition to the positive issues contained in the report of the International Criminal Prosecutor, which included positive cooperation between the Government of Sudan and the Court.

He said: “We believe this is a clear understanding of Sudan's efforts to achieve justice and avoid impunity.”

The Minister of Justice added that the meeting focused on the activities undertaken by the ministry, namely the international affairs files that the Ministry of Justice and the International Committee for International Affairs plan to confront the rebel terrorist militia and the countries that support it in the near future, and the formation of the emerging technical committee, whose specializations include this task.

The Minister of Justice indicated that the meeting focused on the reform of many legislations in the next stage, stressing that he informed the President of the Council of the results of his recent visit to the State of Rwanda and his meeting with his Rwandan counterpart, during which aspects of joint cooperation were discussed in the areas of training and reintegration in the following areas: transitional justice. And there is no impunity, especially since the Rwandan experience in transitional justice is very similar to the Sudanese experience in this area.
