The President of the Sovereignty Council meets the delegation of the African Peace and Security Council

Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met today in Port Sudan with the delegation of the African Peace and Security Council, currently on a visit to the country, led by Ambassador Mohamed Gad, Ambassador of Egypt to Ethiopia, Permanent Representative to the African Union and Rotating Chairman of the Peace and Security Council for the month of October.

Lieutenant General Al-Burhan welcomed the delegation's visit to Sudan. He said: “We still see that the African Union's description of what happened on October 25 as a coup is inaccurate and contradicts the facts. »

Stressing that what Sudan is exposed to represents a new colonialism, he added that the African Union's ignorance of the crisis facing the Sudanese people results from its lack of knowledge of the reality of this crisis.

Stressing that the country is occupied by a rebel militia with the participation of foreign mercenaries and the help of countries known to all. He pointed out that terrorist militias attacked safe cities, violated the sanctity of citizens, looted their properties and raped women, indicating that the whole world witnessed it and did not lift a finger.

Al-Burhan affirmed his refusal to control Sudan by foreign parties who use militias in their war against the country.

The head of the Sovereign Council said that there is a political force that wants to return to power by all means before citizens return to their homes and areas occupied by rebel militias.

Ambassador Mohamed Gad, head of the delegation, said in a press release that this was the first visit of the Peace and Security Council to Sudan in several years, indicating that Egypt was holding out from the beginning of his presidency of the Council last April to make this visit.

He said the clarifications provided by the President of the Sovereignty Council to the delegation of the African Peace and Security Council helped in understanding the dimensions of the Sudanese crisis, indicating that the delegation confirmed its support for brotherly Sudan until so that peace is established in the country. He added that Egypt is always concerned about the need for Sudan to emerge from this crisis. He said the meeting addressed the need to create the necessary environment for Sudan to regain its membership in the African Union. Sudan cannot go through such a crisis and see its membership in the African Union frozen.

Ambassador Mohamed Gad confirmed that the African Peace and Security Council will seek to bring peace to Sudan, a ceasefire and support to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.

For his part, Ambassador El-Zein Ibrahim Hussein, Ambassador of Sudan to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, said in a press release that the visit of the African Peace and Security Council gains importance because This is the first visit since 2015. and it indicates a new positive connection between the African Union and Sudan after the suspension of its membership on October 26, 2015. 2021 AD after corrective measures to dissolve the partnership with the civilian component.

Stressing that the Council delegation heard a detailed explanation from the President of the Sovereign Council on various military, security, political and humanitarian issues, noting that the delegation had important meetings with a certain number of State officials, who provided the opportunity to learn about the overall situation in Sudan and allowed the delegation to obtain information on the reality of the crisis.

Ambassador Al-Zein explained that the Arab Republic of Egypt is chairing the current session of the African Peace and Security Council, noting that the delegation included the Commissioner for Peace, Security and Political Affairs and the delegate of the African Union to Sudan, Ambassador Mohamed Belaish, indicating that this visit will constitute a roadmap to reconnect Sudan with the African Union.
