The road to the transmission corps?! – The face of truth – ✍️ Ibrahim Shaqlawi

Military events in Sudan have accelerated recently, as attention focuses on the Bahri axis, which constitutes one of the key points of the battle for Khartoum. The process of liberating Bahri and breaking the siege of the Signal Corps, which has been under siege since the start of the war in April 2023, is not just about liberating a town or restoring a military site. Rather, it is a crucial strategic step that could constitute a fundamental turning point in the balance of military power in the capital. This operation constitutes one of the strategic axes of operations through which the Sudanese army seeks to break the siege imposed by rebel forces on the Signal Corps. It also aims to restructure the command and control (C2) network, considered the basic element of any successful military operation.

The lifting of the siege of the Signal Corps, which necessarily means the liberation of Bahri Town, reflects an important tactical change. Since the forces began crossing the Halfaya Bridge and moving from the north to the east and south, attention began to turn to this important axis, which allowed the Hattab base to move from the defense to attack. This measure goes well beyond simply restoring the city or strengthening communications between military units. It also means regaining control of a vital area where militias have continued to move freely, in addition to restoring the effectiveness of the backbone of the Sudanese army in terms of communication and control, the foundation of success of any complex military operation.

Therefore, the signal weapon, despite its classification as a “technical weapon”, plays a very important role in warfare. He ensures communication between senior management and field units. The siege imposed by the Rapid Support Militia on the Signal Corps crippled the Army's ability to conduct coordinated operations, despite compensating the Army with alternative plans. Communication and coordination between units is one of the pillars of asymmetric warfare, which focuses on exploiting gaps and managing tactical challenges facing the militia.

The restoration of the soon-to-be-available signal weapon strengthens the Sudanese Army's ability to conduct higher command and control operations. It also gives the Army greater flexibility in transitioning between offensive and defensive operations. Although the army has successfully conducted replacement operations to ensure effective communications on the ground, the lifting of the siege of the Signal Corps represents a restructuring of the tactical picture, as this release allows the Sudanese army to control the ground amidst mobile militia attacks. , which limits its ability to move strategically and fortify itself defensively in Khartoum. The Sudanese army benefits from the tactics it used during the liberation of Omdurman, in which parallel operations and simultaneous attacks were applied to siege points, using auxiliary weapons of artillery and marches, which demonstrated the effectiveness of combined combat in breaking the siege of the Corps of Engineers.

Lifting the Siege of the Signal Arm will likely have major psychological and moral effects on the Rapid Support Militia. Military experiences have shown that cutting off communication between senior militia leaders and field units can lead to internal disintegration within its ranks, especially as it relies on blind panic to manage its operations. Therefore, a loss of communication will increase the state of uncertainty among militia leaders, paving the way for a breakdown of command and control within their ranks.

Therefore, breaking the siege of the Signal Corps in Bahri is of strategic importance internally and externally. Internally, this victory strengthens the morale of Sudanese soldiers and society, which translates into increased support for the army in its upcoming operations. Externally, it will appear to the world that the Sudanese army is capable of regaining control of vital lands in Khartoum, which will strengthen its position on the international stage and attract more regional and international support. Some countries are moving out of the gray zone regarding their position on the war in Sudan. This step could also open the door to technical and logistical support from the international community, paving the way for reconstruction and progress towards political stability in Sudan.

After the liberation of the Signal Corps in Bahri, the Sudanese army will face a new stage to achieve complete superiority over the rapid support militia in Khartoum, which will help accelerate military operations in the state axis from Khartoum. This paves the way for the lifting of the headquarters of the army's general command, located in the heart of the capital, as well as the airport. We mention here the operational axis in the Al-Muqrin area, whose movement is maintained. secret, in addition to the armored axis, which is open within the limits of responsibility.

As the Rapid Support Militia's ability to resist the army diminishes, its zone of control will shrink, contributing to Khartoum's gradual recovery. In this context, the Sudanese government must take strategic measures to ensure the sustainability of the victory, such as preparing for reconstruction and the return of citizens. We must also enter a comprehensive political phase to establish the modern Sudanese state.

Based on the above and according to what we see in reality, the liberation of the locality of Bahri and the lifting of the siege of the Signal Corps are considered a decisive turning point in the course of the war in Khartoum and perhaps be throughout Sudan. This process, which represents the restoration of command and control capacity, paves the way for the Sudanese army to achieve military domination over the capital. As the process of attrition and expansion of military control continues, Sudan may experience strategic changes that pave the way for the reconstruction of the country's political system, based on the balance of power settling on the battlefields.

May you always be well.
