The Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Nile Branch, celebrates the International Day of Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies under the slogan “Keeping Humanity Alive”
The Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Nile State branch, has launched activities to celebrate the International Day of the Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies, which falls on May 8 every year, under the slogan “Keeping humanity alive”.
The celebration, which took place in the town of Atbara, was marked by a wedding that took place in the streets of the town, expressing pride in the values of noble humanitarian work.
The Nile Minister of Health, Dr. Amal Ahmed Majzoub, reviewed the activities accompanying the celebration activities, which included: an environmental sanitation campaign and elimination of deformities, a free clinic and a comprehensive exhibition which included: pavilions for the Red Crescent to present its activities to the public, a pavilion for the Diabetic Friends Association and a pavilion for the Department of Voluntary Examination and Psychological Counseling In addition to a wing for civil protection and river rescue.
The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Amal Ahmed Majzoub, has greatly praised the central role played by the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in supporting and strengthening the state's health system, especially in the exceptional circumstances that crosses the country. She praised the fruitful partnership between the ministry and the Association, particularly in the mobile clinics project, which provides free medical services to people arriving from the war in accommodation centers. The Minister underlined the strong commitment of the Ministry to provide the necessary support to the Red Crescent Society and the health sector in general to ensure the continuity of the provision of high quality health services to all citizens of the State.
On his part, Mr. Imam El-Din Mohamed Ahmed, Director of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Nile State Branch, expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude for the sponsorship of the state government and the Ministry of Health for all programs and projects, highlighting its central role in supporting humanitarian work and achieving the noble mission of the Society. He praised the efforts of dedicated volunteers in providing services to those in need, highlighting their contributions in welcoming arrivals, providing health care through mobile clinics, distributing food aid, provision of ambulance services and evacuation of the injured.
The Imam today announced the organization of a special celebration to honor the first generation of Sudanese Red Crescent volunteers during the celebration activities, and to further appreciate their generous donations and great contributions.
The association's branch will continue its celebrations the day after tomorrow, Saturday, by traveling to the locality of Al-Mattama, to attend the inauguration of the solar energy project at Al-Mattama Hospital. A graduation ceremony will also be organized for a number of first aid and home nursing trainees in Al-Salwaab area, Al-Mattama locality, in addition to many various events organized in various locations across the state.
