The supreme committee for the creation of the Al Jazeera project irrigation department begins its work for its first meeting
The Supreme Committee for the creation of the Al Jazeera Project Irrigation Department began its preparatory work for the holding of its first meeting in the coming days, in application of decision No. 139 of the Prime Minister stipulating the creation of an independent irrigation department within the project.
The Committee includes the under-security of the Ministry of Irrigation as President and the Governor of the Gezira project as assistant, as well as representatives of agricultural and technical organizations, experts in irrigation and farmers’ representatives, with a tendency to add university and research organizations to support technical and scientific work.
According to well -informed sources, the agenda of the first meeting will address the mechanism for implementing the decision and the establishment of controls and regulations for irrigation management, in addition to discussing technical issues related to the improvement of water management and its equitable distribution between farmers to ensure optimal use of water resources and support agricultural production within the framework of the project.
