The second meeting of the technical committee to prepare economic feasibility studies for the financing portfolio for the summer agricultural season and to know the financing policies and procedures of the banking system. It was in the presence of engineer Atef Youssef, director of the General Administration of Planning and Agricultural Economy, the committee's rapporteur, engineer Al-Hadi Fadl Abdullah, general director of Sennar irrigated projects , by Mr. Badr Al-Din Hamdan, director of microfinance. in Sennar State, and the representative of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries – Sennar State.
The meeting presented the projects that require feasibility studies and monitoring of their financing procedures. The meeting highlighted the need to find funding for a specific period of time for specific areas due to time constraints and to continue efforts in the implementation of the prepared studies. with other institutions, and find a mechanism to link financing to the rehabilitation of the sectors, he stressed. The specialized committee in the preparation of studies called for the need to hold a meeting with banks to set portfolio guidelines based on the approval of the banks' studies. The number of ten commercial banks was determined for the financing portfolio, and the meeting approved a financing gap amounting to 64 trillion pounds out of the total portfolio amount of 68 trillion pounds, which must be filled by the Sennar State Government with sovereignty. The council and the committee asked the various ministries to prepare studies for different projects which will be financed from the funding portfolio.
The meeting explained that the financing portfolio of the IFAD project amounts to 1,400 thousand dollars and the next meeting is scheduled for Sunday 06/23/2025.
