Transitional Sovereignty Council President Meets Turkish President

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met today in New York, on the sidelines of the work of the United Nations General Assembly, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The meeting focused on bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen cooperation relations between Sudan and Turkey.

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council informed the Turkish President about the crimes and atrocities committed by the Rapid Support terrorist militia against civilians and the destruction of the country's infrastructure.

Highlighting the Sudanese government's response to calls for peace and its participation in the Jeddah talks, which led to the signing of the Jeddah Agreement in May 2023, an agreement that rebel militias have not committed to implementing.

Al-Burhan appreciated the distinguished level reached by the cooperation relations between Khartoum and Ankara.

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council expressed his thanks and appreciation to Turkey for its continued support to the Sudanese people through the appreciated humanitarian aid it has provided to citizens affected by war, torrents and floods.

Welcoming the positions of the Republic of Türkiye in support of Sudan in international and regional forums.

On the Sudanese side, the meeting was attended by Ambassador Hussein Awad, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Al-Harith Idris, Permanent Representative of Sudan to the United Nations.
