The conference, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the city of Fort Taliza, Brazil, and which concluded its work yesterday by issuing its final declaration, affirmed that education is a fundamental human right and it is the duty of governments to protect it, to ensure quality, equitable and comprehensive education for all and to promote lifelong learning opportunities, as stipulated in Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Sudanese delegation participating in the conference sessions was led by Dr. Ahmed Al-Khalifa Omar, Acting Minister of Education, and he delivered Sudan's speech before the conference in which he called on the United Nations organizations and UNESCO to help Sudan rehabilitate the country. He also met with Al-Khalifa on the sidelines of the conference with education ministers of several countries to activate joint cooperation.
