Via Sudan Juvenile Diabetes Association: Ministry of Health launches $11 million to support diabetic children

*Federal Minister of Health: We extend our thanks to the Sudan Pediatric Diabetes Association for its great efforts since the start of the war to provide insulin to the children of Sudan.*

Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim, on the challenges his ministry faced since the start of the war in providing life-saving medicines, especially those related to children's lives, such as insulin and supplies for the treatment of diabetic children, explaining the ministry's commitment to involve actors from civil society organizations that have a long history in this area, in recognition of the important and organized role played by these parties for many years before the war . Among these entities was the Sudan Childhood Diabetes Association which, since the start of the war, has fully coordinated the procurement of insulin for children and its delivery to child diabetes clinics in Sudan (26 clinics), highlighting the great and fruitful cooperation with the ministry. and the National Medical Supplies Fund, in addition to the donors who gained their absolute trust, which had a major impact on the continuity of supplies from the start of the war until today.

This happened during the inauguration of 40-foot refrigerated containers and pediatric diabetes medicines supplied by the Sudan Diabetes Association and its partners at the National Medical Supplies Fund buildings in Port Sudan.

In statements to the press, the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, expressed his thanks to the Sudan Juvenile Diabetes Association for its tremendous efforts, strong belief in its societal responsibility and the great role that it played thanks to its effective partnership to supply and delivery of insulin, diabetes treatment equipment for children and the cold chain, with support amounting to 11 million dollars, which enabled the stability and continuity of insulin supply for children in recent months.

In conclusion, the minister praised the role of the Sudanese Association for Diabetes in Children, its head, Professor Mohamed Tahmad Abdullah, and pediatrician Salwa Abdel-Baqi for their monitoring and work on the tracks. He also thanked procurement services. and relevant departments for coordination. He also thanked donors, in particular the Direct Relief organization and its partners.
