We met on the university road – the face of the truth – ✍️ Ibrahim Shaqlawi

Today, Sudanese universities find their avant-garde role in the enlightenment, consciousness and reconstruction of the national project. Inspired by the Abayat Abdul Majeed Haj al -amin, who was sung by Abdul Karim Al -kabli, “Khartoum has exploded in the offense of” University Road “, these meanings remain a living symbol of national struggle and the renunciation of society led by universities in universities in the future and national testimony and the renunciation of the universities in universities in the future and national testimony.

Yesterday, Prime Minister, Kamel Al -Tayeb Idris, published directives at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to return the universities of the capital, Khartoum. After a forced judgment of two years due to the war which broke out in April 2023, following the failure of the coup d’etat of the rapid support militia and its premises and regionalists, a milestone which reflects the intersection of political, social and educational transformations in Sudan.

This decision cannot be separated from the most complete context of the attempts to reconstruct the State, in the light of a reality which is fragile, complex and multiple challenges. But it expresses a strong business to restore the symbolism of the capital as a center of sovereignty, knowledge and stability, and to improve the legitimacy of the State and its university institutions.

It is important that this return is considered not only as an administrative decision, but within the framework of a political project which seeks to relaunch the State by national symbolism and the knowledge of the universities of the Sudanese collective consciousness. Universities, with spaces for discussion, thought and student movement, remain one of the most eminent institutions that are capable of reshaping the national mood and formulating new visions for the future, at a time when the politician rides the community and the symbolism of realism. Consequently, it is responsible for the progress of stability and the establishment of the foundations of security and peace.

This decision acquires its importance of its coincidence with broader indicators on the government’s intention to gradually go from the capital alternative Port Sudan to Khartoum, with the aim of restoring the centrality of the national capital as a site of the national decisions industry and as a center of civil life. The return of universities in this context presents itself as an attempt to relaunch new borders which express a possible harmony between the civil and military components of the consciousness of the public, after this relationship, it was the subject of attraction and massacre.

However, this ambition, despite his face, collided with a harsh reality, which is the fragility of universities infrastructure, the security concerns that must be established and the absence of a full plan which guarantees a safe and lasting return of the educational process. This reality has led to a division within the university community. A certain number of teachers and students have expressed their reservations, to return without guarantee, because the answer came from the Ministry of Higher Education, which began its diligent and interested in this return. .

The return also raises serious questions about the preparation of the State to assume its responsibilities towards universities and students, in terms of rooms and rehabilitation laboratories, to provide a safe educational environment and to relieve financial charges on the students’ shoulders. This challenge is aggravated by the continuous bleeding of academic skills abroad, in a phenomenon that threatens the collapse of the higher education system, and the possibilities of rebuilding the state and the institutional network of the State are undermined, unless a real reform approach is adopted by the elites and according to which a national project to redesign the educational process.

Consequently, the need for strategic alliances with the private sector, civil society and international partners emerge to provide the financial and technical resources necessary for reconstruction. Universities are not isolated entities, but are vital joints in the body of the state, which requires an incubator environment which guarantees their sustainability and improves their role in the path of national reconstruction.

The return of universities to Khartoum is not simply an attraction of academic activity, but rather a real test of the capacity of the State to activate practical responses, and to strengthen the confidence of societies, in particular the category of young people, which was and is always the most affected by war, and the most stop from the national horizon horizon.

It is, according to the face of the face of the truth, this return is a detailed station of the reconstruction path. But it needs more slogans and declarations, a coherent political vision, a conscious societal partnership and a serious investment in education as a tool for social processing and national reconciliation. It is only the guarantor of the universities of return to their first biography, such as beacons for knowledge and centers of intellectual radiation and societal rebirth.

You are fine and well.
