What do the Sudanese expect from the summit of crises? – The face of truth – ✍️ Ibrahim Shaqlawi
The work of the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit, the “follow-up summit”, will begin today, Monday, as a continuation of the previous summit organized by the Saudi capital, “Riyadh”, with the participation of leaders of Arab and Islamic countries. Islamic countries. The summit aims to discuss stopping the ongoing Israeli aggression against the occupied Palestinian territories and Lebanon, among other issues. The summit is expected to address the serious repercussions of this aggression on the security of the region, in addition to unifying Arab and Islamic positions and putting pressure on the international community to act seriously to find lasting solutions guaranteeing stability and peace in the region.
Considering Sudan as part of this Arab and Islamic environment, the Sudanese are looking forward to this summit to discuss the issue of war in their country which broke out since mid-April last year after the failure of the Coup attempt led by Rapid Support rebels. Forces benefiting from international and regional support and political support from certain Sudanese political forces. The Sudanese therefore expect this summit to clearly condemn the criminalization of the Rapid Support Militia for the widespread violations it has committed against civilians in Darfur, Khartoum and Al-Jazeera State, recently, and which became an event covered by all news agencies and received widespread international condemnation which qualifies these forces as a terrorist organization.
The Sudanese also hope to force international and regional parties supporting the war to stop the flow of weapons to the militias, which will help Sudan end the war, restore security and peace and move on to the next stage. stability. It is known that the most important issues will be the Palestinian issue, as well as the war in Lebanon, because Sudan hopes that this issue will receive enough attention during the summit, given that the summit is not only an opportunity for denunciation and denunciation, but rather an opportunity to develop new methods of crisis management and to adopt more influential positions. Help bring real change to the region.
This summit necessarily reflects the commitment of Arab and Islamic countries to seek comprehensive, effective and lasting solutions to the crises in the region, in addition to strengthening international cooperation to ensure peace and stability. All efforts must be aimed at establishing peace, justice and equity for affected peoples and providing them with the necessary support so that they can recover. It is therefore hoped that the summit will strive to make real progress towards regional stability and avoid descending into a full-scale regional war. It is known that Sudan is participating with a delegation led by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, who will hold bilateral discussions with the presidents and leaders of the participating countries. countries to enlighten them on the evolution of the situation in Sudan.
Observers believe that President Al-Burhan's speech should include clarification on the latest developments and developments in the country and reveal the violations of the Rapid Support Forces in Darfur and Khartoum, in addition to clarifying what is happening in the Gezira State, which requires the issuance of a very strong declaration from the summit to condemn these violations and qualify this militia as a terrorist organization. It will also be necessary to confirm the government's position on the peace file, based on the Jeddah agreement signed on May 11 last year in order to spare the blood of the Sudanese and restore security and peace, as well as on the road map that the Sudanese government gave to the mediators: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.
Some political analyzes see President Al-Burhan's participation as an opportunity to shed light on the reality of the crisis in accordance with the changes that have recently accompanied the scene, as well as an opportunity to hold bilateral discussions with the leaders of Arab countries and Islamic. Sudan hopes that its participation in the Riyadh summit will benefit from examining the issue of the ongoing war in the country from the perspective of the aggression against which the Sudanese are exposed and the international and regional conspiracy that threatens the territorial integrity of Sudan.
It is therefore important that the final declaration of the summit includes something that stops the bloodshed of innocent and defenseless people in Sudan, who have been victims of brutal violations by the militias, who forced them to flee their areas of refuge. residence. Citizens of Darfur, Khartoum and the east of the island continue to face death and genocide on a daily basis. The Sudanese previously looked forward to a summit on the ongoing war in their country, but now that it has taken place, what is happening in Sudan must receive enough attention from the leaders gathered at the summit crises, as observers call them. based on the reality of what is happening in the region. Therefore, the truth remains that it is important that the file of the war in Sudan receives sufficient attention within the summit to enable these summits to achieve their objectives of establishing security and restoring peace between peoples. This is what the Sudanese aspire to from their Arab and Islamic unity, and apart from that, the Sudanese must maximize their options and follow them through to restore security and achieve peace for their country.
May you always be well.
