Adhanom, in Port Sudan, the administrative capital, today Saturday, accompanied by Dr. Hanan Hassan Balkhi, Director General of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (AMRO), and a number of directors of the organization. He was received by the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim, the directors of the departments of the ministry and the director of the organization's office in Sudan, Dr. Shibli Sahbani.

Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Muhammad Ibrahim, in statements to the press at Port Sudan Airport today Saturday, said that this visit is an extension of the World Health Organization's support to Sudan during the past period, and that it is the culmination of distinguished relations, indicating that the ministry is working within the framework of joint coordination and cooperation between Sudan and the World Health Organization for many decades, and he added that the organization's support is not limited to financial and technical support only, but extends to mobilizing the efforts of other international organizations to finance Sudan's activities.

Haitham indicated that the visit will include holding talks with the state leadership, represented by a meeting with the Vice President of the Sovereign Council, Lt. Gen. Malik Aqar, and a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jaber, as well as a meeting with the resident representative of the United Nations agencies, in addition to a number of inspections and field visits to health facilities and institutions. In addition to a visit to a shelter for displaced persons.
